Too much, too soon. Too little, too late. I stand here guilty of both of these crimes. I am not worthy to stand in the presence of God.

Yet, I do. I am. Because He assures me of it.

As the pieces of my life fall away, my prayer is only that those pieces be replaced with another piece of Jesus. Not my will but His. I know what I have to do. I don't know if I am strong enough to do it, having been given a heart that might be too tender to do the really difficult things. Yet, the ball has landed squarely in my court. It hurts to realize that things have come to this point. Here we are. I am a great believer in the notion that you cannot change the past--you must deal with the 'what is' of the present. I can't see the future and I don't want to. What I do now will surely affect that unseeable future, so I must make the right decisions, speak the right words.

I don't know if I can. I know that if I step aside, and lean on my Father, my Brother, my Friend, He can. I only have to let him. I only have to lay myself aside, and let Him work. In the Bible we are told that there is no greater love than that a man lay down his life for his friends. This has many meanings. It doesn't necessarily point to death, though many of us see it that way. There are many ways for any person to lay down his life, and I am seeing that one of those ways is through stepping aside, and letting God have His way. It's through heartbreak and tears. It's ignoring all those conflicting emotions, and doing what you know you have to do. It's deciding between going to see that movie you wanted to see or driving your elderly neighbor to the grocery store. It's making the firm choice to do what is right, what is truly best for all concerned, even if you don't get what you wanted. It's a mental tying of your own hands behind your back, and sewing your lips closed.

But we have help. We have One to lean on and cry to and pray to, One who is as close as a breath to hold us up. So today, decide what you will do.
Will you do His will, or will you do your own?

God bless each one of you--have a wonderful day!

Elizabeth, I knew right away as I started reading this it was going to be good. I was not disappointed. Good writing. Thanks.
