My family loves the television show 'My Name is Earl'. It's so much fun watching this guy as he goes about the business of righting all his past wrongs. I think people can relate, because who among us doesn't have things they'd like to correct somehow? The character of Joy is so funny--well, I like to have a good laugh, and this show never misses the mark.

Earl talks about 'karma'. Bad karma. Good karma. Things like that. I see his point; however, I would never call it karma. I call it God.

What goes around, comes around.

You reap what you sow. All good deeds are rewarded, all bad deeds are punished. There are so many variations on this theme.

And, the longer I live, the more I realize just how true all these sayings are. If you have a chance to correct a past misdeed, I say take it. If you can turn the other cheek, and learn how to repay evil with good, if you can remember, at all times, why it is that you even exist, then God says you will be richly rewarded and blessed. Maybe not here, but eventually.

What a goal to try to reach! What a task that has been set before us! And we will get there. Together. God is going to see us all through, He's going to enable us to finish our race.

And we won't have to win the lottery to do it, like Earl did. Because when Jesus walked up that hill, He was carrying us with Him. He was taking our punishment for us, dying so we might live, and live rich, and joyous lives at that.

As far as I'm concerned, there is no amount of lottery winnings that would cover the price my Friend paid for my life.
