Faith
Good morning, child.
Morning, Father. I don't think it's good though.
Yes, I know. You're having to make some hard decisions right now.
Yes, I am. And it hurts.
I know. You feel like you failed.
I did fail. I failed because I forgot that this boy was not mine in the first place--he was yours. I loved him too much. I didn't make him face the consequences of his actions--I took the blame for him. I fixed everything for him so he never had to suffer.
Hmmm. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
It does. But it isn't the same as what you did for all of us.
No, not really. Yet, the child is still mine. I can help if you will let me. You rarely told the boy 'no' as he grew. Now, I am asking you to tell him no. No matter what. He is a grown young man. He must learn how to fail so he can learn how to live.
What if something happens? Something bad?
I gave you a lot of things that were 'bad'. Did you not learn the most from those things?
I did. I just wanted better for my kids. I wanted to spare them.
You can't spare your children from life. You have to teach them how to deal with life. I am here to show all of you what your lives should be. I am your life, and his life is also mine. You taught him how to deal with life, you did show him the right way. He chose not to listen. Now, now he must be allowed to chose which way he will go. And you must let him.
What do you want me to do, Jesus?
I want you to do nothing except talk to me. Walk with me. Let me carry you for a while. Trust me.
I've never failed you, have I?
No, never.
Will you relax your hands and let me take this heartache from you? I can handle it, you know.
I know. It feels like I'm giving up.
In a sense, you are. You are giving up control of this situation. You are resting in my power. Apart from Me, there is nothing you can do. You are not apart from me. I am with you. But, it's time for me to carry the whole burden now. Remember, I love him too.
I'm scared, Jesus. How do I tell him I love him, yet turn him away?
He knows you love him. But turn him away you must. He chose his path--you have to let him walk it alone. I will watch over him for now.
Jesus, take this from me. I need peace. I need rest. I need----You. Only you. It's going to be okay, in the end, isn't it?
It is. I promise.
I believe. Lord, I believe.
