Author requests article critique

No Hope

They say that a person’s eyes
Are the windows to their soul.
She looked at me with emptiness
In her eyes, her story was told.

This precious soul so thirsty,
So hungry for some kind of hope.
Depression has taken it’s toll
With her life now, she cannot cope.

She doesn’t know how to explain it,
It’s an illness with no easy answer.
But it’s eating away inside of her
Just as surely as if it were a cancer.

Robbing her of any happiness
That she reaches out to hang onto.
Filling her heart with despair
Killing her softly with shades of blue.

I shared my hope in Jesus
As tears welled up in her eyes.
Such tenderness I felt for her
And for the many times she cries.

“Jesus is the One who can heal you
He will give you a brand new spirit!
Your broken heart will be mended
This Gospel, please won’t you hear it?

I feel your pain, see it in your eyes
God loves you, please don’t grieve.
For only He can make you well
All you have to do now is believe.”

I saw just a flicker of hope in her eyes
Before the devil had his way again.
With her eyes cast down she said “No,
There’s just no hope for me, my friend.”

I won’t give up, there’s more work to do,
For the harvest is ripe now to sow
With that little flicker of hope I saw
A seed was planted that surely will grow.

Julia, In my opinion, this is one of the very best that I've read from you. It's tender and so very filled with compassion. Your love of God and lost souls shows through beautifully. Eyes may be the window to the soul, but your pen shows forth your heart. Thanks for sharing such a precious poem.

As I struggle tonight with feelings of depression and being overwhelmed by life's demands, this brings me hope and peace. Keep writing what you hear Him whisper. You are so in tune.

Julia, your poem, "NO HOPE" will bring hope to many, I am sure, as it has already to one of the people who left her comment. I know of people like the one in your poem. Sometimes you feel that all you can do is pray. But that's the best thing you can do. You planted the seed. The Holy Spirit will do the rest. I do pray that there will be many who, by reading this, will find hope.
