Soul Sought Approval

I stirred my soul this morning, from its slumbering state,
“Wake up, Soul, from your sleep. The hour is getting late!”
“What,” my soul inquired of me, “do you propose I do?”
“Hush up, my soul.” I said. “I have questions for you.

What have you been up to, Soul? Tell me, where have you been?”
Said my soul back to me, “I set out to please men.”
“Soul, you were not made for that. What would you ever gain?
Why would you lose yourself? It isn’t worth the pain.

Glorify your God, my soul, all that is within me.
Search yourself, oh my soul. Do not seek vanity.”
Soul sought the approval of anyone who was kind,
someone to satisfy lusts of a fleshly mind.

Soul even sought of itself approval and love,
never setting its eyes on treasures from above.
“Let me rest,” Soul to me said “Pray the Lord keep me
and my cares in His heart until the day I’m free,

free to be just what He made, the one He adored.
For that is what I am. He’s all that I live for.”
“Oh,” I said to my soul then. “That’s what I love to hear,
that your main concern is that God would keep you near.”

Mark 8:36-37 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

Awesome awakening, my sister. I love this one. Wake up, O my soul. May God continue to bless and use you.

Yes, Treava, this found its way to my heart, too. For I always seek to be all things to all people and please everyone. One of the hardest battles we must fight is to please ONLY GOD... from there, He will take care of all we need in our relationships with others. Thank you for this 'gift' to us - another wonderful posting! Love, Peggy

Jesus is all that we live for. He is the One we adore, the One who comforts us in all our sorrow and pain, the One who laughs with us in our joys, and gives us songs in the night. God bless, Miriam.

Treava, you know that this one hit home with me. I am always trying to please others. Oh to realize that He adores me.
