This is the thief with the crumpled horn
That stole the assurance of the gift of grace

This is the maiden all forlorn
That rebuked the thief with the crumpled horn
That stole the assurance of the gift of grace

That lay in the house that Jesus built.

This is the Savior all tattered and torn
That died instead of the maiden all forlorn
That rebuked the thief with the crumpled horn
That stole the assurance of the gift of grace
That convicted the greed that ate the provision
That lay in the house that Jesus built.

This is the Judge from whom The Son is born
That resurrected the Savior all tattered and torn
That died instead of the maiden all forlorn

This is the joy that comes in the morn
That knows the Judge from whom The Son is born

This is the faith with which souls are adorned
That carries the joy that comes in the morn
That knows the Judge from whom The Son is born
