“Do not forget to entertain strangers,
for by so doing some have
unwittingly entertained
angels
(Hebrews 19:2) NKJV

Do you entertain a thought in which you just can’t help yourself
Perhaps harboring a grudge from which you have no help

Then a stranger comes your way and gives you some advice
Do you give consideration or take it all in stride

Have you ever met someone who took your breath away
For one reason or another your heart felt strange that day

Was that person dining out or was he lying in the street
Asking you to give him money so he could buy something to eat

Did you judge him by appearance thinking that you might be robbed
Or just walk on by not looking thinking he should get a job

When the woman at the grocery store was counting out her change
Did you offer her a dime or did you think she was deranged

And how about that person sitting on a park side bench
Feeding pigeons talking to himself of no intelligence

And the one who pushed the grocery cart picking up empty cans
Did you sympathize his need or think misfortune was his plan

When you saw the sign “will work for food” with a child by his side
Did you take them to your home or did you honk and pass on by

Or the hitchhiker whose thumb is out to get to work each day
Did you pull over or think that someone else would come his way

Are there prisons where you live and would you visit them someday
Even Paul and Silas was in jail but they sure didn’t stay

When you visualize a person someone you think you know well
How do you know that when they speak it isn’t one of God’s Angels

So be careful what you say and take heed of spoken words
As the bible says you’ll give account of every word he heard
