Faith

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen”
(Hebrews 11:1) NKJV

I was late on my rent like some five hundred bucks
I thought that this faith thing might bring me some luck
So I researched the word and examined the facts
And found it was something that my soul had lacked
That inward acceptance that God would supply
I thought maybe my landlord would just let me slide
But I wasn’t so lucky I had wasted my time
As I found that my faith wouldn’t supply a dime
When I got my new start - a new rental place
I launched on a mission at learning of faith
I learned that faith comes through various forms
Of hardships and trials and numerous storms
Faith did not provide automatic exemption
From poverty I learned how to find my redemption
Because I had learned that there wasn’t a bridge
That I could cross over to avoid the ridge
But what I did find through experiences I’d had
Was there was a pathway if something went bad
Determined I wouldn’t be in poverty again
The first thing I asked was forgiveness of sins
I revamped the way that my paycheck was spent
And believed I could live off of ninety percent
The first ten I gave to the Lord as a thanks
And found that my savings increased in the bank
Now I look back at my last residence
And knew in my heart why I couldn’t pay rent
For if I had stayed I would not have researched
That Faith is the Substance of hope in one word
