Everybody Is Looking For Something
What Do You Seek

I Corinthians 1:4-10, 17-22

We want to look at:
I. Jesus Testimony
II. The Sweet Aroma of Praise

First we want to define some words that you will understand what is going on in this setting. Jesus testimony sets us free, he affirms us to God by declaring us his own, by avowing and confirming our authenticity.

Testimony – is a witnessed statement under oath, declaration or statement of fact, evidence available facts, circumstances, proof, grounds, and data in support of.

Affirmative – affirming, asserting that a thing is, expressing approval, action.

Declaration – declaring, formal, emphatic or deliberate statement, assertion, disposition, and affirmation avowed.

Avowed – admitted,

Confirmed – strengthen, establish, make firm

Conformation – confirmed the truth or correctness of, made formally valid, reinforcement

Verification – verifying the truth or correctness of by examination, checked out, affirm, testify for, vouch for, support, substantiated, certify.

Authentication – Verification, validation, corroboration

Facts – truth or validity.

Paul an Apostle or one that was sent, who used his authority as an apostle through his divine call, encourages us in this passage of scripture to be sanctified in Christ Jesus to reference us to have right relationship with God. We should be set apart for a special work, by submitting to God all of our actions and lifestyles that bring closer harmony with God’s expectations for us. Paul contemplates all that is understood by God’s gracious unmerited favor as it is extended to sinners. The Gospel has been confirmed in us through Jesus and that same Gospel has to confirm us blameless before the throne of God. He desires to have right fellowship with us, which includes both union and communion. We have been brought into union with the Lord Jesus Christ. Accordingly this great truth implies that they had been brought into communion with one another. It should bring concern to us when we do not have an intense struggle to bring others to understand the testimony of Jesus and who he is.

Jesus brought us liberty, worship and spiritual gifts. His testimony brings Healing, Wisdom, Miracles, Faith, Interpretation of his Word, Divers kinds of Tongues, Spiritual Discernment, The gift of Prophecy, and a Word of Knowledge.

Everybody is looking for something and they look at the gifts that Jesus left for our edification and try to find Jesus in them because he gave us the gifts. Jesus is the gift. The gifts of the Spirit; is ours because of the finished work of Jesus on the cross. The finished work of Jesus would bring life to a dying world. He knew the end what it would be if he completed his purpose here on earth. Jeremiah 29:11 says that for I know the thoughts that I think toward you said the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you and expected end. God shows us our end, but what he do not tell us is the road that we take determines our destined end. The road we take can bring us a testimony of Jesus Christ or no testimony at all. It is the will of God that we come to our expected end but how we walk, we talk, we live, says whether or not we will make it to that end. Except we yield our mind to him, we will not have the testimony of Jesus Christ. All of our selfish intents will be revealed because God is behind our desires and besides him there is no testimony. A testimony is a witnessed statement under oath, declaration or statement of fact, evidence, available facts, circumstances, proof, grounds, data in support of that brings us in unique relationship with God. It unifies us to Jesus when we become believers. And Jesus uses many examples in the Bible to describe that unique union between himself and man. It is also true that a Christian can have a complete conquering life from sin when he or she will submit, know, reckon with, yield to and obey. Then and only then will Jesus Christ come in and live in us. What will Jesus testify about you to his Father God? What are you looking for? What are you seeking?

My Testimony is my testimony, but it must be the testimony of Christ, which means Jesus; is the foremost in our mouth. Jesus must affirm us to the father. He must express that a thing is, expressing approval of all of our actions as a Christian. Now all of your actions before you allowed him to come into your life were washed clean. You started over new under the blood; therefore he will declare you worthy of his blood. It is he that will strengthen you, establish you and put you on a sound foundation. He must confirm the truth or correctness of all you do and reinforce your validity. How do he do this? By verifying who you are by examination. He choke out of you what needs to be gone, he affirms you, testify of you, vouch for you, support substantiate or certify you. All he is doing is verifying your authentication by corroborating that your life is and has been, and is still held by his testimony. Jesus holds all the facts of our Christian walk. The testimony of Jesus is one of truth, grace, love, peace, joy, longsuffering and endurance. He is come to do the will of his father and bring him glory. Our testimony should be of what Jesus has done and what he is to us in our lives.

Just as John in Revelations 12:1, says he bare record of the word of God, the testimony of Jesus Christ and all things that he sow. Jesus was a faithful witness, the first begotten of the dead and the prince of the kings of the earth. He loved us and washed us from our sin in his own blood, made us kings and priests unto God, his Father. He is alpha and omega, the beginning and the ending, which is, which was, and which is to come almighty, the first and the last. I am he that lives and was dead, but now alive forevermore, he had great conflict for us.
We are to believe on him, suffer for his sake, stand fact in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel, in nothing be terrified by your adversaries, which to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation and that of God. Salvation is given to you in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake. Just as Christ suffered, so must we, but who wants to suffer.

We only want the consolation of Christ, comfort of love, fellowship of the Spirit and bowels of mercy, but no suffering. If you cannot suffer with him then, you are none of his. He said fulfill you my joy that you be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, and of one mind. We do not want to do anything in strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind. We should esteem others better than we do ourselves. We should not look to our own things and boast, but boast on the things of others. Be happy for others, as Christ was happy for you. We should have the mind of Christ if we carry his testimony. He made himself no reputation, thought it was not robbery to be equal with God, but was yet obedient to the cross, holding forth the word of life and the father rejoiced in his son.

He went to the cross without murmuring, complaining, or without disputing. He was blameless, harmless, and without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, holding fast the word of life. We should work out our own soul salvation. Let God be your record. Do God’s love yet abound? Are you a partaker of grace? Knowledge? And judgment?

You must approve of things that are excellent, be sincere and without offence, be filled with the fruit of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ unto the glory and praise of God. Thank God for his grace and peace every time you get a chance. Then you can make your request with joy. You can be confident in Christ that what God started in you he will finish. God is rich in mercy for which he has given us with his great love through his Spirit. Jesus took on the sinful flesh of man and became a gift from God to all of us. This is the great love that God had for us, his effectual work. He made known in us the mystery of his will; according to his good pleasure. We have redemption through the blood and forgiveness of sin according to the riches of his grace. We have received or obtained an inheritance being predestinated according to the purpose of him, who works all things, after the counsel of his own will that we should be to the praise of his glory.
