In most cultures, the last word of a dying man or one who is to go away for a long time is taken seriously. A few minutes before he left for heaven, Jesus gave his disciples information that would change the whole world.

He told them to go preach and then said something quite interesting.

‘These attesting signs shall follow those who believe’ He said, ‘in my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; they will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well’ Mark 16:17-18 Amplified Bible.

One thing I find fascinating is that the signs are not what we would call our normal ordinary experiences, Jesus talks about driving out demons, speaking in new languages, healing the sick and immunity to poison.
Taking Jesus’ words at its face value means then that anyone who believes (and that includes the liar, thief, prostitute who got born again just a while ago) has the ability to exhibit these signs here and now.

The simple English meaning of this is as a person who believes in Christ Jesus, you have the power to work miracles; it is your birth right. You can heal the sick, cast out demons, speak in new languages and what more, not be affected by any poison either physical or spiritual.

These sound incredible to the human mind, but they should be believed because they are true. Jesus said elsewhere that those who believe in him will do his works and more than he did. Part of the package of salvation is the ability to work miracles and bring glory to God through it.

The world is waiting for you, take steps to exhibit God’s power in you, pray for the sick, speak to negative situations to go, pray in the Holy Spirit more and remember you are immune to poison. That is the Master’s last will and testament and it better be taken seriously.
