Marriage

In the last few years, I've been watching with amazement certain happenings in pentecostal/charismatic circles. That of how many of our leaders (being an evangelical/pentecostal myself)have handled their marriages or rather how the marriage of many of them have crumbled.

I am married myself and I know every marriage has its challenges, and also that with perseverance, trust in God and humility marriages can succeed.

I am from a polygamous african home, my late father being a polygamist and my grandparents on both sides. I however think it is rather strange that my
late maternal grandfather was able to manage his two wives, while many of today's preachers are not able to manage their one wife.

The question I am asking here is what is responsible for this and how can it be stopped? it brings no glory to God when christians who are supposed to set examples for others cannot even manage their own affairs well.
That is surely not the way to evangelise the world. It is a thing of shame that we who are supposed to be models are going in a way not beffiting the name of God.

Sure, this is an attack of satan on the church, we don't however have to allow him. Can't the same faith we use to get people heald be applied to our marriages. Did salvation not include a happy marriage?

There are those whoa argue that they left their marriages because they entered into it 'for the wrong reasons in the first place'. My reply to them is this 'There are those who entered into their marriages for the wrong reasons in the bible too, yet were married for life'. Jacob's relationship with Leah attests to this fact.

I did not write this to pass judgement on God's people, but to call our attention to this cancer in the body. Let those who can pray start to prayand let those who can cousell start to. Let every man hold his home and let every woman submit to her husband as God said.

I live in the west and I know marriage as practised here is against God's word. Let us go back to the bible and line our marriage up with God's word. Husbands love, wives submit.

In every marriage, God is seeking godly children. It is God's will that marriages be for life, let us leave out all the arguments about Divorce and putting away and concentrate on God's original plan for marriage.

Remember that one of the requirements for being a pastor is to be the husband of one wife. Do not bore me with the teaching of 'One wife at a time'. The fact is God hates putting away and divorce, for it was not in his ORIGINAL PLAN.

Let everyone reding this pause and pray for christian marriages and for ministers of God. That the pressures of the ministry will not tear husband and wife apart,no matter their calling.
may all christian marriages in the world today be what God intented marriage to be from the beginning, and may those who are separated or divorced find the courage to follow God's word about their circumstance.

May we all understand God's word the way God understands it in Jesus name amen.

Remember that Peter was a very busy apostle, but he also kept his marriage.The Bible did not record that he put away his wife. Minister, manage your marriage, your ministry and reputation depends on it.
