The Verdict Is In
There I stood before the intimidating court
Listening to him list accusations of every sort
Remember when he did this terrible deed
Oh, how can you forget about his greed?
The Judge sat and listened to each charge
I stood there and wept as the list grew large
On bended knee all I could do was plead
Forgive me; it is Your mercy which I need
Then a familiar voice came before the Judge
Do not hold against my sheep this grudge
Look into his heart in this his hour of need
Father, I am standing before You to intercede
One after another my crimes were tallied
But now all my hopes were being rallied
Because it is my Shepherd's voice I heed
Father, this is one for whom I did bleed
The accuser's anger rose and his voice climb
Wait, he screamed, he must pay for each crime
Father, I have already paid for them on the tree
The verdict is in, by Christ I am not guilty
Body of Christ,
The concept of the devil and Jesus acting as lawyers in a court room is not original. I have read it in the past (either online, a daily bread, or I don’t remember). The concept drove it home quite nicely. Last night I got to testify and witness to some coworkers and during the talk I revealed some of the things from which the Lord has delivered me. Recalling how good I was at being bad a twinge of guilt tried to creep in on me. It drew back the image of the court room anecdote. This is the poem the Lord gave to me to coincide with the story. If any know the original author of the court room scene please let me know.
How blessed we are to have that intercessor. How blessed that He paid the cost in full. Never ceased to be amazed and appreciate the love of God. It is easier than we think to overlook the awesome gifts of God. May God bless you.
A servant in Christ,
Christian

Great poem and message. Lord Jesus paid our debt long ago . Let's all get busy spreading the Good News so others will know of salvation found through Jesus Christ. May God bless you as you continue to write for His glory, Julie
I don't know who originally wrote the story of the courtroom scene, but it hit home for me too in such a wonderful way. God's grace and mercy are forever amazing and always right on time. I love the poem He gave you and your testimony is wonderful.
What a blessing to His sheep His sacrifice is - redemption at no cost to us. Can we truly appreciate it? It is a sobering thought that so many will not accept it and will be found guilty, when freedom is only a heartbeat away. My quest is to never attempt to be 'Judge' for it will never be my place. We are called to 'abhor what is evil and cling to what is good' (Romans 12:9) so my ceaseless prayer is to forever have tunnel-vision - to see only Christ and to honor Him before all men in all circumstance. I believe if I do that and as much as it depends on me, Love will havr it's Perfect result. Bless you, Christian. Jody
