Christian Obligation

Trouble does not release us from Christian obligation
Regardless of how frustrating and painful the situation
We are warned that there will be test and tough trials
But we are also promised that they will last only a while

It may seem much easier for us to tuck our tail and run
The Word of God tells us by Christ we’ve already won
When life’s situations push you to the end of your rope
Heed God’s promise, it is a promise of glory and hope

We’ve been given a measure of faith for times of trouble
When it is tested by trial it must not shrink but double
Avoid looking at it through our weak and fleshly eyes
Try viewing the situation how Our Father God spies

It doesn’t matter what troubles you are going through
Written in God’s Holy Word we are shown what to do
Bring God, Our Father to each and every hard situation
Remember that nothing frees us from Christian obligation

I know that it may seem harsh, coming from one outside
Take comfort in that I too have been tested and tried
It is written of another who has suffered much for love
Choosing to be tempted and tested, He came from above

As someone who is to be called Christian, Christ-like
It is long trail up and an even tougher grueling hike
But He carries us from glory to glory, for we are His
Count it joy, for Our Savior will carry you through this

We are given a list of so many great godly people
And taught about their lives, while under our steeple
Each name is accompanied by so many hard trials
We can also read that they persevered all the while

The book called the Holy Bible is that great book
And if you have happened to chance a quick look
Then you can see all these godly women and men
You see evidence of God through it all to the end

This applies to each Christian, each and every one
Your trial too, there is nothing new under the sun
You see only the road block and not the destination
Hold to Christ’s teaching it is our Christian obligation

Body of Christ,

This is but a reminder to myself and all who need it, that God is bigger and better than our problems. It may not always appear that way, but that does not make it less true (we live by faith and not sight).

There seems to be a larger amount, at least more visible, of trials and tribulations in my life and around me. Each one of them have appeared at times hopeless. I know that nothing is hopeless for those in Christ. God's word is a promise of hope and hopeless means without hope, that cannot be for believers.

Among this increase in trials is increase in the frequency of reference to the James 1. Count it all joy. That verse is sometimes tough to swallow. But, as I stated in the poem, tough does not free us of the obligation to obey God.

There is so much more to this than I could put here. I am working on an article to accompany this study. Pray that God helps me complete it soon.

God bless all of you. I love you.

A servant of Christ,
Christian

"Trouble does not release us from Christian obligation" No, it most certainly does not. But when we are in the midst of the storm, it sure seems easier to lose hope for the rainbow. Doesn't it? This is a powerful, thought-provoking reminder that hope is surely born of our suffering and that we not only can, but MUST endure, by holding fast to our faith in our faithful Redeemer.

Thank you, Christian, for your wise words and reminder of God's endless mercies. History has proven to me that experience is always the best teacher, so I pray for you and all counted in the Body of Christ for the tribulations (promised by Christ Himself) we are all finding ourselves in the midst of. Let us all be reminded that 'I (Christ) have overcome the world' and ANYTHING it can throw at us. Thanks again. I look forward to reading the forthcoming article. Blessings - Jody
