But Whom Say Ye That I Am? Revised from Challenge Entry

But whom say ye that I am?
Jesus asked the disciples that day.
It’s a question we all must answer,
At least once, along life’s way.

Some said John the Baptist;
Who resurrected from the dead.
Others said another prophet;
Jeremiah or Elijah, instead.

But Peter knew the answer,
“Thou art the Christ, he exclaimed.
“The Son of the living God”
He spoke loudly, unashamed..

We as Christians must be bold;
Like old Simon, son of John.
For God has revealed to us Christ
His only begotten Son.

And there still are many people,
In this wicked world today.
Who refuse to acknowledge
The Truth, the Life, the Way.

They did the same in Bible times,
When Jesus walked the earth.
Performing His many miracles,
And preaching spiritual rebirth.

There were some who turned
Their hardened hearts away,
They ignored eternal life,
Their pride stepped in the way.

Things are no different today
From biblical days of old.
Men try to diminish His deity,
And choose to sell their soul.

Now they say He was married,
To the precious Magdalene!
They talk of old mystery codes,
Being solved on a movie screen!

Can’t you just see that old devil
In all the lies and commotion?
He thinks he’s caused confusion,
With his age-old dirty potion!

It’s the purpose of the deceiver,
To lead mankind astray.
He’s the father of every lie,
And we are all his prey.

But every knee will bow,
And every tongue will confess;
That Christ Jesus is the Lord!
On that day they’ll profess!

And there’s another question
God will ask you from His throne;
“What did you do with my Son,
Accept Him, or live life alone?”

So who do you say that Jesus was?
Can you call Him your best friend?
Can you confess Him as Savior?
And His name you defend?

Was He a good teacher or prophet,
Or was He part of God‘s plan?
I believe He WAS God,
Who came in the form of man.

He had a definite purpose,
For coming to live among man.
He came to save our souls,
To lead us to the promise land!

Lord, I praise and thank You,
For coming and dying for me.
I pray for the misguided ones,
Open their eyes, so they see.

Forgive them, sweet Lord Jesus,
For Your name they’ve defiled.
Holy Spirit lead them,
By the hand, as You would a child.

A very good condensed rendition, in poetry style, of this important question, "Whom do you say that I am?" I am glad, aren't you, that we have the Bible for our guide and we don't have to mess our minds up with the junk that Hollywood produces, made up with lies of the devil? Thank you, for this poem. God bless!

I liked this poem a great deal! God job! I liked that you used quotes from the Bible. I liked that you asked the reader questions. I liked that you expressed your opinion. I liked that you met a current topic (The Da Vinci Code") head on. Thank you for posting this.

“And there’s another question God will ask you from His throne; “What did you do with my Son,
Accept Him, or live life alone?” .....................It is so sad when so many choose to live alone, but for those who don’t, what joy and peace they will finally find with Christ living in their heart and mind and showing them a better way and finally the way home.
