Song Lyrics
Brothers and Sisters,
This song was given to me by the Lord during my run. I find these days that I have to exercise more just stay in bad shape. So I run 3-4 miles every other day. I don't think I will ever like the running itself, but I do find I enjoy the routine (the disciplining my body) and the sense of accomplishment I get from running.
The thing I like most about running is that I get one on one time with God. It takes me on average 35 minutes to run 3.6 miles most of that time is spent in prayer, praise, and worship. I've had many runs where I was done with my run before I realized it because I was in a conversation with God.
Yesterday as I was running (a hot muggy Carolina afternoon) I was hurting a little from the heat and humidity. At the halfway mark I began singing some Praise and Worship songs that I know. After single a couple songs in the Lord gave me this following song. It came almost as a bluegrass hymn. Keep in mind it was attempted in that rhythm while huffing and puffing from running.
Armor of God
O' I put on the armor of O' Mighty God
O' I put on the armor of O' Mighty God
O' I put on the armor of O' Mighty God
And He gave me, the victory
O' I donned the helm of my salvation
O' I donned the helm of my salvation
O' I donned the helm of my salvation
And He secured the victory
O' I wear the breastplate of His righteousness
O' I wear the breastplate of His righteousness
O' I wear the breastplate of His righteousness
And He brought me, the victory
O' I carry my shield of faith for the fiery darts
O' I carry my shield of faith for the fiery darts
O' I carry my shield of faith for the fiery darts
And God gave me the victory
O' I gird up my loins with His voice of truth
O' I gird up my loins with His voice of truth
O' I gird up my loins with His voice of truth
And God secured the victory
O' I shod my feet with His Gospel of peace
O' I shod my feet with His Gospel of peace
O' I shod my feet with His Gospel of peace
And God brought me the victory
O' I take up the sword that is called His Word
O' I take up the sword that is called His Word
O' I take up the sword that is called His Word
I give God all the glory
So put on the armor of my Mighty God
So put on the armor of my Mighty God
So put on the armor of my Mighty God
And He'll give you the victory
So give Him all the glory
So give God all the glory
