The Fragrance of the Lord

There was a sweet aroma that day long ago
When the woman with her tears washed His feet.
Then she dried them with the hairs on her head
And kissed them, when anointed complete.

Her precious alabaster box was broken for her Lord
It was her one and only prized possession.
She gave all that she had, and would do it again
To show her love in the highest expression.

The fragrance of the Lord from this precious ointment
I believe is still present with His children today.
When we give up our all, and truly repent to Jesus
The alabaster box is opened again, on display.

Can’t you smell the fragrance of the Lord in this place?
Can’t you see the pure joy that’s displayed on each face?

When the Holy Spirit moves and a lost soul is saved.
Another child becomes His and is no longer enslaved.

There’s a sweet spirit come over all those who believe
When the Holy Lamb of God has again, been received.

He’s the Lily of The Valley, the scent of morning rain,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul
Can you smell His fragrance and feel His presence,
Inhale the fragrance that will make you whole.

Luke 12:38 KJV And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash
his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed
his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

Dear Julia, This is a beautiful poem. The story itself is precious and very dear, one of my favorite bible stories. I love this! Years ago I had the privilege of going to Israel. I bought few souvenirs, but I did come home with several pieces of alabastar. I love them so! I love the line, "she gave all that she had and would do it again..." Thank you for this. Linda

Julia you had so many wonderful lines in this poem. I do believe we still can smell that sweet aroma when we humble ourselves as she did. a fantastic poem on a truly beautiful subject.

There’s a sweet spirit come over all those who believe
When the Holy Lamb of God has again, been received--Amen! Thank you, Julia. Thomas
