Get On Your Knees and Pray

My Daddy was a child of God,
An honest upright man.
He told about the Savior’s love,
With the Bible in his hand.

He’d gather all us children round,
So we could understand;
That Jesus gave His life for us,
It was all in the Master’s plan.

You should have seen the way his eyes
Did shine as he would speak.
He said that God loves everyone,
From the wicked to the weak.

Now even though it’s been some years,
Since my Daddy passed away.
When I’m feeling down and out,
I can still hear Daddy say:

Get down on your knees tonight
And ask the Lord above
To lighten up your heavy load
With His everlasting love!

He will lift your burdens up
And he’ll carry them away.
If you’ll just get on your knees,
Get on your knees and pray!
