Think about this -- half the people you know are below average! I
hope I'm at least in the middle.

When you became a Christian, what did you expect Christianity
to do for you -- save you from Hell? Yes, but your conversion
was a once and done thing. I'm talking about since then -- day to
day. What do you expect that your faith in Christ should be doing
for you on a daily basis?

When I make a purchase, I want to know what that item is going
to do for me -- how is it going to improve my life? Now that you
are a Christian, shouldn't you be asking the same question -- how
is my faith going to improve my life? It won't do much for you if
you don't work at it. If you actively participate in developing
your faith in Christ, it should be continually making you a better
person -- better to your friends, your spouse, your co-workers,
your employer or employees, and most importantly, better to
God.

This gradual process of becoming more Christ-like I prefer to
think of as sanctification -- it's an ongoing process throughout
life. To sanctify means to consecarate or set apart for sacred
purposes. Many years ago, I used to hear people give testimonies,
saying "I'm saved and sanctified!" The saved part was real -- the
sanctified part seemed a bit braggy. I believe that sanctification is
a life-long process where you get the diploma for your FS Degree
(finally sanctified) when you set foot in Heaven. The process
should be something that humbles us rather than makes us a
proud.

Acts 26:17, 18 (niv), Jesus said,"...I am sending you to open their
eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of
Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a
place among those who are sanctified by faith in me." You are
"set apart" to be as Christ-like as you can be, and that takes a
genuine effort. Let's work at it.
