Dumitru Dudumen, a great missionary from Romania, before his conversion, joined the Romanian army, much to the dejection of his parents because they had prayed for him to become a Christian a long time. He joined the Constanta military school. He took pride in his black and white uniform. At the end of his schooling he received the Diploma of Lieutenant in the marines. He was stationed on the Black Sea at Constanta .One day he received an order from the Communist Commander to search every ship coming into the harbor from foreign countries. He was ordered that if he should find Bibles, he was to confiscate them and arrest the missionaries. He was told that he would be given a greater award like a higher rank if he did what he was told to. He received the orders with pleasure and began searching foreign ships.

One morning a ship came into the harbor from Holland. He took 8 of his soldiers with him and began an extensive search. Finally, under some boxes of cookies, he found some Bibles .When he saw that he was very happy knowing that he would get a reward and a promotion .He called the Captain and asked “Whose Bibles are these?” He said “I do not know.” Just then he saw a tall man standing nearby, he was crying. Dumitru knew that he was praying. He went to him and demanded his passport. He asked him “Are these your Bibles? ".He said “No. ““Well then whose are they?”He asked. “They are your brothers' and sisters’, the man quietly answered. When he heard that Dumitru felt that someone has stabbed him in the heart.

Suddenly his mind was filled with the memory of his father who was a Pastor and his brothers who were Christians. Suddenly he heard a voice,"Dumitru, What are you doing ? I brought you here. Don't confiscate the Bibles. Return the man's passport and help him to unload the Bibles. If you don't do so I will punish you."Dumitru looked around to see who is the person talking to him .But he couldn't see anyone. He ran into another room but the voice grew even louder. He put his fingers into his ears but he couldn't stop the voice. He knew it was the Lord talking to him.

Finally he went back to the man and handed over the passport and told him “God has heard your prayers.” When he heard that, he stared at Dumitru and told him “You are going to become a Christian." Dumitru shouted at him and told him that he will arrest him if he doesn't go away immediately. Once he had given him his passport back, Dumitru didn't hear the voice anymore. But he was gripped with fear knowing that it was the Lord who had spoken to him. He knew in his heart that God had brought him there to protect the Bibles coming into the country.

The communist government hadn't told him to look for guns or other ammunition but only Bibles for they knew that this was the greatest weapon. Dumitru later on went on to become one of the great evangelists in that country and elsewhere.
