Christian Living
The Word of God says unless we become like a little child we shall not see the kingdom of God. So often we get so involved in things of this life that we stop allowing that childlike faith to be a part of our lives. Maybe we have been hurt and find ourselves forgetting how to trust. Trust has always been a difficulty for me.
But then I stop and watch my son Jason, and learn from his example. Let me tell you about Jason! Jason has a childlike heart that shall never grow old. He is 16 years old, and is gifted with Autism. This means while most 16-year-old boys are having growing pains, Jason is learning to tie his shoes; a lesson that takes an hour per shoe. But he works so hard at this simple task.
While his sisters and brother are to busy to notice the simple things of life Jason is discovering the wheels on his toy truck for the millionth time. He sees the things we tend to overlook.
Every Morning Jason gets up at the same time, takes an hour to put on his pants and shirt. Eats the same breakfast he has enjoyed since he was 4 years old. He goes out to his school bus with a bible in his hand and a neck tie that my pastor gave him rapped around his neck (even over a tea shirt) Jason stops to talk to his bus driver saying the same words he has said for many years. " Hi I'm the little Pastor" then off he goes to the seat on the bus that has been assigned to him since he was 4.
Jason's world does not change. His routine is always the same, but his faith is unwavering. I watch him as he says the same prayer each night before bed " Dear God Bless my Mom and brother and sisters and my truck. Amen." then off to bed he goes.
This simple child goes to church each Sunday and asks the Pastor if he can preach. He tells the congregation " Praise the Lord" then goes back to his seat.
While we are busy looking at the big things in life, Jason continues to see the things we miss. He has so much strength and I am so blessed to have this child in my life. When People ask how I can handle this dear child I say. " He is my greatest teacher."
Lord God thank you For Jason and the lesson of faith he brings to my life. Amen
