I can remember incredible details from my childhood, but if Betty
sends me to Walmart for only two items, I'll come home with
something totally wrong. Aren't you glad you aren't like that?

The human mind is such an amazing device that we can't really
comprehend how complex it is. For example, when I had my
stroke (or when anyone does), the part of the brain that is affected
actually dies. However, there is apparently such a surplus of
brain cells that therapists try to create new paths to take up the old
functions. In my case it worked pretty well for my leg but not for
my arm.

As Betty and I were visiting with our neighbor, I said," I wonder
whatever happened to my Mother's old Singer treadle sewing
machine." Now this was multiple decades ago, but I can still
visualize the thin leather belt that went from the treadle up to the
machine and that the belt was held together with a staple-like
device. Why do I remember something as unimportant as that?

Our brain is like an endless filing cabinet. The new stuff we store
everyday never seems to push out the old stuff. It's like some of
your email programs -- it never gets emptied.

One prominent college fund has a slogan --"A mind is a terrible
thing to waste'' -- and it is. Is yours running on cruise control or
is it stuck in neutral? From Psa. 119:169 (nlt), "O Lord, listen to
my cry; give me the discerning mind you promised." Gotta ask,
IF He does, what will we do with it? Waste it or use it to its
fullest for His glory
