Ode To a Winter Snowfall

My mind trails back of a winter snowfall
visualizing flakes dancing in the air
Watching from my window as it softly fell
and when it came it did not spare

Alas, leaves had disappeared from the trees
and was replaced with blankets of snow
It had covered branches, from limb to limb
as whistling of the winds did blow

It did covered rooftops and steeple towers
back roads and near small towns
It paved highways, lanes, and country sides
O' the flurries were all around

At night it did sparkle under the moon
which added a beautiful glowing light
And as I beheld, each snowflake descending
my heart marveled at such a sight

This winter snow only lasted for a while
like it was over in just a few days
As I heard slushing from tires, going on by
It amazed me how God works in many ways

I remeber when the mail couldn't be delivered
for the mail box was not in view
Well this was the case why it had to cease
and that was to only name a few

But still why it lasted we all had fun
each did enjoy it in their own way
I had saw the snowmen out on front lawns
yes the children had their day

Sleds were speeding down the road
of every make of it's kinds
The old bobsled that seems to last forever
no matter how modern the times

A thought came to me to make snow cream
like we did in our younger years
But somehow the purity of it has changed a bit
which it did add some fears

So much pollution has filled the air
from chemicals floating all around
Back them we didn't worry in getting sick
from the snow that covered the ground

But never the less I still wait in anticipation
for the next snowfall to appear
With shovels and boots, ready and waiting
and thanking God for another year
