If college students had written the Bible, we would know why
Cain killed Abel -- they were roommates -- fellowship gone sour.

The word "Fellowship" occurs over and over in Christendom
because it is so vital. Some churches even incorporate it into
their name. One denomination -- "Bible Fellowship Churches" --
uses it as their denominational title.

So what is fellowship? Let's see what my childhood friend,
Daniel Webster, says about it. The #1 definition is
companionship, company. #2 is a community of interest, activity,
feeling or experience. It is like glue -- it's a common bond of
interest.

As wonderful and vital as fellowship is, it should not be our only
reason for becoming a part of local group. One of the active cults
lures many into its fold with "fellowship" -- showing love and
friendship. One recent subscriber wrote to ask with which church
I was associated because she didn't want to get involved with a
cult. That was a very wise and valid inquiry.

1 John 1:7 (nlt) says, "But IF we are living in the light of God's
presence, just as Christ is, then we have fellowship with each
other, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from every
sin." That's Fellowship 101! Are you enrolled?
