You know you're from Florida if you don't pull off the road to
see an alligator. Tourists are easy to spot in Florida -- they are
the ones with sunburns.

If you are comfortable in your environment, you may be a
content person. However, sometimes we can get too
comfortable -- that leads to complacency. Being complacent
can be dangerous. If you are around alligators enough so that
you get complacent about the environment, you may end up
being a meal.

We can get too comfortable in our Christian faith and become
complacent. Remember that a rut is just a grave with both ends
kicked out. We can get into a routine (rut) in our churches
where we know exactly when to stand, when to sleep and when
to wake up. Complacency is a comfortable blanket of indif-
ference. If the disciples had been complacent, we may never
have heard of Jesus Christ. It's a frightening thought, but how
many people have never heard of Jesus Christ because of our
complacency?

John 1:8 (nlt), "John himself was not the light; he was only a
witness to the light" -- SO ARE WE!
