On this day most people are thinking about Easter eggs, chocolate bunnies and baskets filled with delicious jellybeans. But for all born-again Christians, there's a greater reason to celebrate today. This is the day when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Just think, if He had not died on the cross and rose triumphantly from the dead, none of us would have eternal life. If this is a truth that we should remember everyday, then why is it that Easter Sunday is the only time when the average person comes to church?


Perhaps it's because they don't know Christ or what He did for them at the cross. They view Easter Sunday services a a traditional holiday event before you get candy and eat dinner. Perhaps it's because they grew up attending church and they do believe in Christ but it's become a religious ritual rather than an act of service out of love for God.

The term Easter was actually the name of the goddess of fertility. I'm not saying you should stop using Easter Sunday but remember the true meaning behind this day. We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
