Written 9-20-05

My weakness a hole where His strength comes to fill;
My doubt the food which faith feeds upon;
My folly has led me to wisdom’s great hill;
In darkness I scrambled to the light of the Son.

Goodness comes in, where evil abounds,
As water flows to the lowest of places;
My anguish replaced, as His praise resounds,
His light shines upon this happiest of faces.

My greater struggle, my greatest benefit,
For He alone retains my soul;
It is He that is good, my profit to wit,
The void within me, He sets to make whole.

Your glory is my garment of praise,
For You, Father, restore my soul;
Your Spirit is here, my heart is ablaze,
My spirit is fuel, Your fire’s coal.


St. Paul wrote:
"To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Corinthians 12:7-10)
