This is a special weekend for Christians worldwide. It is a time
when some pastors will greet folks with a Merry Christmas as
they leave the church because they won't be seen again until then.

The dates chosen for Easter weekend are probably somewhat
arbitrary and not precise. Therfore, any celebratory events like
Good Friday, Sunrise Service and Easter Service are largely
symbolic. For some it is a very emotional experience; whereas,
for others it is a time for "Putting on the Ritz" and "one-upsman-
ship" when it comes to attire.

It's quite a stretch to go from the very crucial resurrection of our
Lord to a time of fashion exploits. I'm not sure how the one event
became the excuse for the other, but the world has always found a
way to abrogate the real reason for every Christian special day.

Next to the cross, the resurrection of our Lord is very central to
our Christian faith. Without that momentous event we would
have another dead leader just like Mohammed, Buddha, etc. We
would be left with only a set of excellent rules for life but no
hope for eternity. We would just have another religion.

But hallelujah, He is risen, and instead of being of all men most
miserable, we are of all men most joyful! We serve a risen
Savior. Mark 16:14 (nlt), "Still later He appeared to the eleven
disciples as they were eating together. He rebuked them for their
unbelief -- their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen
Him after He had risen." It's a historical fact -- believe it and
rejoice.
