O' the perils of this life-
they'd come rushing in like a flood
But we have something to offset it's wrath
and that is our Savior's blood

When the great waves of troubles rise so high
our protector will send calmness within
We don't have to fear, for he is always near
and more strength he will send

There are no waters that can wipe us out
our troubles are only for a while
So O' ship's of Zion just stand your post
the Lord's help I'd be on each mile

O' ships raise your banners and keep the faith
don't ever throw your oars away
But stay on board and ride it on through
and not long you'll see you day

Now though it may seem a bit dark and dreary
and like the boards are about to break
But didn't you know who's hands you're in-
they'd keep each promise he did make

Jesus is that source for the perils of life-
and a keeper when times are tough
He'll see us through whatever the waters do bring
for he's our anchor when it gets tough

Now grab a hold of his ropes of grace and mercy
and just let him be our guide
For he is greater than any problem that we have
and is with us on this ride
