Crying by his only son's grave
for love, his life this soldier gave
doubt into a father's heart crept
When, Lord, have you so wept?
Mary fell at His feet and cried
Lord, my brother, Lazarus has died
In that sealed tomb, Lazarus slept
For His friend, Jesus wept.
Riding upon a lowly colt He came
to the cheers of the healthy and lame
Knowing the peace they could've kept
For Jerusalem, Jesus wept.
At the Mount of Olives they stayed
As Jesus kneeled down to pray
His disciples in the garden slept
At Gethsemane, Jesus wept.
I love you, My child, always
I will keep you, all your days
This promise the Lord has kept
When you cried, Jesus wept
