This American is tired of the people of this nation being worried about whether we are offending some individuals or their culture. Since the terrorist’s attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. on September 11th, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans.

However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled nor have the dead been recovered when the “politically correct” crowd has begun complaining about the notion that American display of patriotism was offending others.

This American is not fearful of opposing views or protests of the most loathsome of characters among us, to immigration from Mexico or hatred towards anyone desiring to come to our country to seek a better life. For the population of this country is almost entirely comprised of the descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who live here and oppose this nation perhaps need to understand. That as citizens of the United States, whether a person was born here or not, there exists a nation with its own culture, its own society, its own language and lifestyle.

This great nation has been developing over nearly fours centuries. Abuse, struggles, trials and victories by countless men, women and children of every race, creed and circumstance have fought for freedom. Although America has made mistakes in the past and present towards many groups, name me one other nation that has worked as hard to expose its evils and has ardently tried to make them right?

“In God We Trust” is our nation’s motto! This is not some Christian, right wing extremist, fanatical slogan! This motto was adopted because Christian men and women, based on Christian principles, founded this nation and this is clearly documented in spite of attempts of a godless few to say otherwise. Therefore, it is appropriate to display it on the walls of our courts, schools and other public places. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home because God is apart of our culture and country!

If the Stars and Stripes, “God Bless America”, offend you or you don’t like Uncle Sam, then you should consider a move to another area of the planet! We, Americans, young and old, female and male, black, red and white, Christian or not are proud of who and what we are and have no desire to change—and we really don’t care how things are done elsewhere! But that said, we Americans will respect your right to exist, pray to whatever God you chose, or not pray it you don’t want, and choose your government just so long as it is done peacefully and within the law of our land—the Constitution, not some other government’s idea of government! But these United States are OUR country, OUR land, and OUR lifestyle!!!

Our First Amendment gives every citizen no matter how it was obtained the God given right to express her or his opinion. WE, Americans, will allow any person the opportunity to do so. But once you are finished complaining about our God, our flag, our pledge, our national motto and anthem, our way of life, I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other great American Freedom--------the right to leave!!!!!
