Have you been to Disneyland or Disneyworld? Why does Goofy
stand erect while Pluto is always on all fours? They're both
dogs.'Tain't fair!

Something happened last night that should serve as a lesson for our
churches. Our HandChime choir of seven neat ladies played for a
service. They were doing fine until near the end when one person
missed a note, and that threw all the others off, but it should not
have. I have instructed them that if someone misses or comes in at
the wrong place (and it does happen), IGNORE IT and keep the
count and come in with your chime on the proper beat, and it will
all fall ino place. They didn't do that -- bless them, they panicked
-- they didn't "stay the course."

Churches are like that. Someone does something wrong (or dumb),
and right away people start taking sides and pretty soon things are
all out of whack. The don't "stay the course." That's where a
pastor with a level head and steady hand becomes very useful. He
needs to get things righted, focused, and back on track.

A fractured congregation paints a fragmented picture for the
non-churched world to mock -- and they will mock -- you don't
need to give them much of an excuse because they are just waiting
to pick our bones.

Before you scrap, scrape up some backbone and make peace for the
testimony of the church. Paul told the church at Rome -- ch. 12,
vs. 18. "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably
with all men," especially those in your church fellowship. Jesus'
reputation depends on it.
