UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

As I sit here staring at my computer screen, my black cat Nicholas lies on the bed beside me. He purrs contentedly, gazing at me with eyes filled with love and trust. He asks so little of me. I need to feed him, give him clean water, change his litter pan ,and see he gets regular checkups from the vet. In return, he gives me total unconditional and undying love.

This is much like the relationship that I have with my Heavenly Father. He loves me unconditionally. He loves me on the dark days when I am sad or depressed or see no joy in life. He loves me when I am angry or challenging the paths he has chosen for me. Those days when I say “Please Lord, why this way? Couldn’t you have chosen a better route?” He loves me when my faith is weak and smaller than the proverbial mustard seed. He doesn’t keep a scorecard of the number of times I have gone my own way. Those times when I have made promises to Him or to others and not kept them. He always keeps His Promises to me and trusts me to get back on the right road.

Animal lovers all know of their special relationship with their pets. For them it is not hard to envisage how our loving God has bestowed that love on all His creatures. I feel privileged to have a warm loving relationship with my cat. But I am even more privileged to have the same kind of relationship with the loving God who created all things.
