Well it’s Sunday once again, and I am wonderin’ what to feel,
I am reaching for my coffee cup, and I lift the window sill,
Now I’m staring at a neighborhood that lives life day to day,

So I’m walking down the sidewalk just to get into my car,
When I see the next-door neighbor, and I don’t get very far,
She’s a widow and her back is bent from years of work alone,
But I’m late for Church and, Lord I’ve got to run.

As I’m backing down the driveway, now the thought occurs to me,
That I’ve been much too busy to be what I’m supposed to be,
So I ask if there’s a way that I can help her out today,
And she looked at me as if to say.

I am hungry, do you have the Bread of Life,
I am thirsty, do you know the Words of Life,
I am needy, can you give me what I need,
I am, I AM.

When you see me, do you see me with your heart,
When you hear me, does my need tear you apart,
What’s your mission, can you meet me where I am?
I am, I AM.

I could swear I’d heard that voice so many times before.
When I bowed my knees in prayer, and I met You on the floor,
In the quiet way You spoke to me upon a gentle breeze,
And said “What you have done unto the least of these!”

And like a fire in the wintertime, You warm me to the core,
Like a sunset on the ocean, You always leave me wanting more.
When I cry myself to sleep, still You wake me with your love,
And you fill my heart with hope from up above.
