Like a mouse with a crumb of cheese I have learned to guard my heart.

A little here, a little there, but never too much!
There must remain, at the end of the day, enough for me.

I surrender my tithe and portion my time.
I encourage… but NEVER too much! (What if someone gets the wrong impression?)

I tell my wife and children I think fondly of them once a day.
You never know when too much love can spoil a child…
or make a woman too dependent upon you.


And this is the thanks I get!

Those people at the Church rarely if ever speak to me. ME!
I have offered them my undivided attention for up to and sometimes above the four and one half minutes I have allotted for human interaction after a service (if the preacher ends on time).

I took my wife of twelve years to a sit-down restaurant to spend some quality time together on our honeymoon and she has yet to properly acknowledge it!

Last Christmas I actually told my kids in a card how much I like and respect them. (I am generally hesitant to offer such pleasantries in writing)
And Did They Appreciate It?!?!
Not one little bit!

Sometimes I think I should just draw this circle around myself and say, “Hey you guys! This is my space! Get Out!!!”

But then my compassionate side prevails and I have to relent.
I just chalk it up to others inability to relate on a one-on-one basis.

It’s sad how people never learn to reach out.

Maybe if they’d all learn to be a shrewd manager like me
There’d be enough love to go around
