***Baptized by a Boxer!***
Written By Troy Dickens

A while back, I was light heartedly accused, by a friend, of making up the stories that I write in order to get a point across. There was no offense taken, but it reminded me of another story!

Years ago, a friend invited me to go fishing near his home on the banks of the Potomac River. It had rained the night before so the walk down the bank to the river was very muddy. By the time we got to the water’s edge, I was just thankful, I hadn’t fallen in the mud.

There were two big Boxer dogs that had followed us down to the river. We were getting a lot of entertainment watching them chase each other.

I had just sat down on my tackle box beside the water when these two dogs came flying down the hill! The first one saw me and put on the brakes. The second dog tried to stop but couldn’t!

The second dog slid into the first, then the first dog slid into me, then we all went into the river, except for my buddy who just stood there in amazement!

I tried to maintain my composure, but it’s hard to be macho when you’re crawling out of a river covered with mud. In the end, we both had a big laugh. I think I had to ride home in the back of my friend’s truck!

I’m not sure what this story has to do with anything, but those dogs sure got my attention!

My prayer this week is that we keep our eyes open for what God has in store for us and that He doesn’t have to knock us in a river to get our attention! (But hey! Whatever it takes!)

It’s all about Him,

Troy

A well written amusing short-story; the best part is the last sentence reminding us to fix our eyes on the author, perfector and finsher of our faith - Jesus Christ otherwise we might just get a rude awakening !!!
