***You Missed a Spot! ***

One weekend, I decided it was time to wash my car! My six-year-old daughter Amy asked if she could help! I said, “Sure! I can use your help!”

As Amy started “helping” me, she said, “Daddy, you wouldn’t be able to wash the car without my help!” I said “You’re right Amy, I can’t do this without you!”

We had a good old time washing that car! I think Amy enjoyed spraying me with the hose, more than anything else. I’m not sure how clean the car got, but it doesn’t matter. We had a good time.

Try as we might, we are not perfect and still sin. There is nothing we can do in our own strength to win favor with God and work our way to Heaven. We can wash and scrub as hard as we like, but we will always miss a spot.

The good news is this. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

The words to an old song sum it up pretty well. “When answers aren’t enough, there is Jesus!”
