One of my buddies said that when he was five years old, his folks
moved to California -- but he found them! That's a joke, of course
-- he had loving parents. I also had the treasure of parents that
loved me.

The book of 2nd John has only 13 verses. In this short letter to a
Christian woman, he has some interesting things to say. Vs. 4: "I
rejoiced greatly that I found thy children walking in truth." What a
joy it is when our children love the Lord, but many a mother has
spent endless hours praying for straying children. That is a tough
burden to bear.

Third John is only one verse longer. It has one verse that I
treasure, simply because my mother put it in a letter to me while I
worked at a summer Bible Conference. It is also verse 4: "I have
no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." That
meant a lot to me -- still does! I can never read it without thinking
of my Godly mother. What a unique privilege it is to have Godly
parents.

Back to 2nd John and verse 12 -- "Having many things to write
unto you, I would not write with paper and ink (computers &
e-mail); but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that
our joy may be full." O, how I wish I could. The E-Cheer family
has gotten so large that I can no longer remember your names --
names without faces but names that each have a special need. As I
scan the list, I wonder what you look like and what special burdens
and joys you have. You are loved! It gives me joy to believe that
you "walk in truth."
