Our Great God

How patiently God loves,
And seeks the hungering soul;
Longing to dwell inside,
And make them completely whole.

How great to those who ask
In faith, much like a child,
Is God’s work and glory,
As His power is revealed.

How quietly God speaks,
Mid the busyness of life;
But many do not hear,
As they scurry, fuss, and strive.

How kind to those who stray
Down the slipp’ry paths of sin,
Is God’s unfailing love,
That seeks, again and again.

How sweet is God’s delight,
In those who will seek His face!
Oh what delights they find,
As they run with God, life’s race!

How blessed indeed are those,
Who hunger and thirst for God;
Who seek His kingdom first,
And care not for man’s applaud.

How kind God is to those
Who stumble, and run to Him!
His forgiveness and love
Helps them rise up, yet again!

How near God wants to be,
By His Spirit dwelling within;
Setting us free from self,
And every besetting sin!

How sweet beyond compare,
To those who have overcome,
Is God’s voice, on that day,
“Well done, my son; well done!”
