Humiliated Or Delighted

When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing. Luke 13:17 NIV

Here we have tow different things: the humiliation of those who opposed Jesus and the delight in the people who saw the wonderful things Jesus did. Now, the humiliation of the opposers of Jesus is not tied to the delight of those who saw the wonderful things Jesus did. Could it be that those who opposed Jesus were convicted by what He said. How dare someone say something in contrast to what they taught. Those who see the good in what Jesus does find delight in the works of God. Those who oppose Jesus are convicted and thus humiliated. Out of humiliation comes an opportunity to be humbled and if so led find a change of heart. Such was not the case with these Jewish leaders.
