The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?” Luke 13:15-16 NIV

Jesus put this synagogue leader in his place. How hypocritical to say that healing could not be done on the Sabbath as it was work when untying an ox or donkey to lead it to water would not also be considered work. Very strange indeed. The leaders had so many rules that needed to be followed and they were quick to condemn someone who did not live up to them, yet they did not really consider if their rules were in alignment with what God wanted. Jesus tried to let these leaders know what was important in the eyes of God, but they would have nothing of what He had to say. He was a threat to their ruling.
