Sometimes there's a link that we cannot explain
Something that's just always there sustained
The memories and experiences tied together
Even if time shared hasn't happened in forever
Subtleties arise from various things
Constantly circling our mind like a ring
Recollections shaped in the littlest of ways
Framed together from the good ole days
The distance doesn't matter in the least
The connection remains there to feast
Occupying our thoughts for some reason
Even if at times it feels like treason
Nobody wants to waste space
We'd rather have smiles on our face
We question why certain memories are replayed
In those moments we feel betrayed
Even if it's only the ones of great quality
We know that situation ended honestly
For better or worse it all occurred
We can't change it now so we remain tethered
