Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home. John 19:25-27 NIV

As Jesus is dying, He sees His mother Mary and His beloved disciple John standing near the cross. He knows that His mother will need help in continuing to live, and so He entrusts her well care to the disciple John. Our Lord is always concerned about the well-being of those He loves and who love Him. Are you not glad that you belong to the Lord, and that you have been led to the cross.
