An elderly gent, at the movies, got popcorn and paid $3. He
commented that the last time he got popcorn it only cost 15 cents.
The clerk said, "You'll really enjoy the show this time -- now we
have sound,"

What gives you joy -- music, a child's smile, a rise in the stock
market, a friend's hug? Name your own. Joy can be found in many
ways and places. Unfortunately, gloom also abounds. Whether we
find joy or gloom partially depends on which one we most actively
seek.

If we don't consciously resist it, gloom can sometimes take over.
We need to be on our guard against the pemptation to be a grump
-- life is too short to be a grump. Joy not only makes you feel
better, but it rubs off on others.

Consider Psalm 51:12 (niv), "Restore to me the joy of your
salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me." That "grant
me a willing spirit" part should catch our attention. Lord, makes us
willing to actively look for joy -- because your joy does sustain us.
