[12]Then the men said to Lot, “Have you anyone else here? Son-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city—take them out of this place!" Genesis 19

The above words are those of the assigned Angels detailed to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, the habitation of Lot. The Lord is forever righteous; He will not destroy the righteous with the wicked. He was not ready to ruin Lot and those connected with him in the pending destruction awaiting the land.

SALVATION was extended to "everyone" in the place. He was not to be saved alone. He was allowed to save the lives of those whose loss of life could cause him sorrow.

His sons-in-law rejected the grace and were destroyed with others who did evil in the sight of the Lord.

As Lot and his people lingered, the Angels helped them out of the land with a warning,
"[17]So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he said, “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed.” Genesis 19.NKJV.

Lot escaped with his wife and two daughters but the wife looked back and became a pillar of salt. Although she escaped the common punishment of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah but could not escape that of her disobedience of God's instructions.

What a pity!

Every sin of a man will find him out if he fails to confess and repent.

There is a correlation between the story above and the imminent coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord declared the similarity in plain language that "Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;" Luke 17:28.

They were occupied with world affairs without having any consideration for any danger about to take place. Jesus assured that "Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed".

Beloved, how often do you remember that the Lord is coming soon? Is it part of your daily agenda? It has been designed to take place and it is the next in God's timetable. All that you can do is to become Christ's by confessing and forsaking your sins. Believe in the atoning power of His blood. Confess and believe Him as the Lord and Saviour of your life. Do not do this alone, extend it to members of your household.

If you have done this before, continue to obey His instructions and be prepared for His imminent coming. Remain blessed and lifted forever in Jesus' name.
