When they got home, Dina grabbed some chocolate chip cookies from the cookie jar. She also got a glass of milk. "I guess I'll watch some television," she said.

"I'll join you on the couch," Paul told her.

"I thought you said you were going to take a nap," Dina said.

"I am," Paul said. "I'm thinking that I'll rest on the couch. I was running harder than usual at track practice today. My feet kind of ache. I don't feel like climbing the stairs just yet."

Dina shrugged. "Okay," she said. "I'm sorry about your feet. I hope they feel better."

"Thanks." Dina sat down on the couch, and Paul rested his head on the other side of the couch. Dina kept the volume low so that Paul could sleep. Even with the volume down, Paul couldn't sleep. He was too upset about Bridget.

Dina glanced over at him. "I thought you were going to go to sleep," she said.

"I don't feel as tired as I did before," was all Paul said. He wasn't quite ready to talk about Bridget. "I'll watch some TV with you." He sat up on the couch.

"OK." Dina scooted closer to Paul and looked up at him. He still had a sad expression on his face. "Are you sure you're all right?" she asked.

Paul turned to look at his sister. "Yeah, I'm fine," he mumbled. "I just ache. My feet hurt." My heart hurts even worse, Paul thought to himself. I know the ache in my feet will go away, but I'm not so sure about the ache in my heart .

"I can get you warm water so you can soak your feet," Dina offered. She jumped off the couch and hurried into the kitchen. She soon returned with a large bowl of warm water and set it in the floor. "There you go, big brother," she said cheerfully.

"Thanks, sis," Paul said quietly. He sighed before he took off his shoes and socks and soaked his feet in the bowl of water.

"My feet sometimes hurt after I'd been dancing for a long time," Dina said. "I totally sympathize with you."

"Come here, sport." Paul pulled Dina into a big hug. He couldn't get his mind off of what had happened with Bridget. He felt tears come to his eyes, but he closed his eyes and wiped them before the tears had a chance to roll out of his eyes and onto his cheeks.
