Author requests article critique

Near the entrance to her elementary school, Dina smiled when she saw Paul's car pulling up. Her sixth-grade teacher had just given the class a science test and a math test. She got an A+ on both tests. She couldn't wait to show the tests to Paul! When he got out of the car and went to meet her, Dina was jumping up and down excitedly. "Paul! Paul!" she shouted. "Look! I got an A+ on both my science and math tests today!"

Paul didn't hear her. He was in a daze of depression.

"Paul!" Dina exclaimed as she shoved her papers in front of his face. "Did you hear me? I got two A's today!" She held up her hand.

"That's great, sis." Paul absentmindedly gave his little sister a high-five.

When they were in the car, Dina noticed that Paul didn't look happy. "Paul, is everything OK? What's wrong?" she asked, concerned.

Paul didn't answer. He had gone off into his daze again.

"Paul," Dina said. She waved her hand in front of his face.

"Oh, I'm sorry, sport," Paul said. "Did you say something?"

"Yeah. I asked if you were all right."

Paul still wasn't able to talk about what had happened. "I guess I'm just a little tired," he said. "You know how track practice is."

"Well, I don't do track, but I do ballet. I get tired after ballet practice and recitals," Dina replied.

"Maybe when we get home, I'll go and lie down and take a little nap," Paul said.

"I'll be really quiet while you're napping," Dina promised.

Paul leaned over and gently touched Dina's cheek. "Thanks, kiddo."

"No problem."
