One Friday in Paul's physics class, his classmate Judith Spencer asked him to help her with the assignment. Paul went to her desk to help her. Unbeknownst to Paul, Judith had had a crush on him ever since they were in junior high school. Bridget, who was also in Paul's physics class, saw red when she saw her boyfriend talking to another girl.
When class was over, Paul went to his locker to get his track uniform. He had practice immediately after physics. Bridget stormed over to his locker and slammed it shut a split second after Paul had gotten his uniform.
"Bridget! What are you doing?" Paul was completely startled.
"You know how I feel about you talking to other girls!" Bridget snarled. "Why couldn't Judith Spencer have gotten someone else to help her?"
"You know what, Bridget? I'm sick and tired of you being jealous every time I talk to other girls. You can't be so possessive. You need to give me some space," Paul said firmly.
"Fine!" Bridget yelled. "You can have all the space you need! If you can't respect my wish for you not to talk to other girls, I don't want to see you anymore!"
"Well, if you can't respect my right to talk to whoever I want without getting jealous, then I don't want to see you anymore!" Paul shouted.
After Bridget stormed off, Paul grunted and kicked his locker. To release more anger, he let out more energy than usual as he ran around the track. As Paul showered and changed his clothes to go and pick Dina up from school, his mood changed from anger to depression. His track teammates noticed that he was feeling down. When they asked him what was wrong, Paul told them he was just tired. He grabbed his gym bag and backpack. After saying goodbye to his teammates, Paul headed toward his car.
