Loving God,

I thank you that you have brought all of us here,

And that we have the opportunity to open your Word together,

As we prepare our hearts to read, reflect and discuss your truths,

Please help us to cast aside any distractions or worries from the week,

We acknowledge that we need the help of your Spirit to understand and obey your Word,

So grant us humble hearts and listening ears,

And the patience to wrestle with things that we don’t understand,

Please fill us with all spiritual wisdom and insight,

So that we might experience the depth, richness and fullness of your Word,

And receive the truths that you have provided for us in this Bible passage,

I pray you would guide and direct our discussions,

That our talk would be wholesome and we would continue to build one another up,

May you protect us from any potential division or unhelpful arguments,

And may we grow to love, respect and listen well to one another,

As we learn from each other’s wisdom and experiences.

As we taste and see that your Word is good,

May we continue to be reminded of your promises and our lasting hope in Jesus,

May we grow in love and obedience to you,

And in our hunger and thirst for righteousness,

May we be convicted of the sins that we need to repent of,

And be challenged to pursue holiness each day,

May we continue to be led along the path of godliness,

And be encouraged to live in a way that honours you,

And may we be strengthened for the week ahead,

Being equipped to serve you faithfully in the world,

Please continue to empower us by your Spirit,

That your truths would sink deeper into our hearts and transform our lives.
