There are those who sit in our pews every Sunday,

Ticking off the boxes of an endless religious checklist, 

Burdened by the guilt of their own inadequacies,

They do not know the One who can truly set them free,

There are those who slave their whole lives,

Under the gods of fame, achievement, success,

Or who search endlessly for the next craze,

Hoping to dull their senses to the pain of reality,

There are those born in the darkest corners of our world,

Whose only love language is violence,

And they learn to speak it well,

When life hits hard, they hit back harder,

There are those whose lives are defined by misery,

Having grown up with heartbreak and disappointment,

They have forgotten the meaning of hope,

Or at least they have stopped looking,

When we truly see our world, blinded to the good news of Jesus,

Will our hearts not bleed,

Will we not spare even one minute each day on our hands and knees,

Interceding for those in need of God’s love,

That he may save them.

There is still time,

While it is still today.

Please Lord, send out more workers.

Even if it is me.
