Lord God,

I thank you that you have assigned each of us a gender,

Whether it is the gift of being male or female,

I thank you that we have each been created equally in your image,

Yet, we know that in our world today,

There is much confusion about what it means to be a man or a woman,

People have chosen to define gender in whatever way seems right in their eyes,

And so many of us are struggling to know our true identity,

So Lord,

Help us not to be led astray by the false messages about gender around us,

But continue to enlighten us by your Spirit through your Word,

So that we would see and be convicted of the goodness and wisdom of your design,

In creating us as specifically male or female,

For the men among us,

Teach us to embrace the unique roles and responsibilities you have given us as males,

So that we may live as godly sons, brothers, fathers, husbands, uncles, grandfathers, and brothers in Christ,

For the women among us,

Teach us how to embrace and live out our womanhood in the way you intended,

So that we may live as godly daughters, sisters, mothers, wives, aunties, grandmothers and sisters in Christ,

And grant us the wisdom, grace and love,

To sensitively help those struggling with their own gender identity,

As your church,

May you help us to embrace the wonderful way that you have made each of us.
